How one QSR group applied smarter cash-handling

Northwest Restaurants, a 165-unit Yum! Brands franchise group, was looking for a better way to manage cash deposits across its stores. With bank teller windows disappearing and managers spending too much time making deposits, the company needed a more efficient and secure cash-handling process. It also had concerns about poor service from a previous smart safe provider, which had delayed repairs and reconciliations.

Northwest Restaurants piloted Loomis SafePoint smart safes in three stores to test the solution before rolling it out more broadly. The pilot delivered labor savings, near-real-time visibility into safe balances through an online portal, and faster service than the previous provider. Based on the results, Northwest Restaurants ordered its first 30 safes and planned to deploy Loomis smart safes across all of its stores, with stakeholders including the controller, bank, and directors pleased with the outcome.
