How Loomis smart safes help Sonic reduce theft and drive efficiency

Garza Management, which operates 46 Sonic locations in the Houston area, was dealing with repeated break-ins, cash losses, and inefficiencies tied to manual cash handling. Managers were also spending time leaving stores to make bank deposits, which created added security risks and took focus away from guest service and operations. Loomis helped the company address these challenges with its SafePoint smart safe system.

Loomis rolled out SafePoint across Garza Management’s stores in 2018, giving the team a more secure way to deposit cash, near-real-time visibility into store cash levels, and reduced need for managers to leave the store. The results were significant: after nine break-ins in 2017, Garza saw only one in 2018, and three later break-in attempts failed to access any cash. Loomis also streamlined banking with a single-bank setup and provisional credit for cash in the safes, improving accountability, security, and cash-flow planning.
