Case Study: Skyworth achieves faster OTT deployment and global expansion with Looker

Skyworth Improving the OTT viewing and operation experience with glitchless, easy-to-deploy solutions

Skyworth, a Chinese electronics and OTT solutions provider serving more than 128 million end users worldwide, needed a faster and more flexible way to expand its OTT business beyond China. To reduce the deployment and operational burden of on-prem infrastructure, Skyworth chose Looker-enabled cloud capabilities through Google Cloud, aiming to improve compatibility with Android TV and Google TV while supporting its modular OTT platform.

With support from Looker and Google Cloud partner WonderCloud, Skyworth migrated customer OTT systems to the cloud and now runs dynamic workloads in Google Kubernetes Engine, stable workloads in Compute Engine, plus Cloud Storage and Media CDN for global content delivery. The result was a major improvement in speed and efficiency: deployments that would have taken about six months on-prem now take around one month, with each operator migration completed in about a week.
