Toolstation, one of Britain’s fastest-growing tool suppliers, needed a better way to help customers quickly find products online, in its app, and across other channels. Its legacy third-party search struggled with synonyms, trade slang, and brand terms, causing no-result searches, irrelevant results, abandoned journeys, and lost sales.

Toolstation worked with Looker/Google Cloud and implemented Vertex AI Search for commerce to power more accurate product discovery. The new search experience cut no-result searches from 2% to 0.1%, lifted click-through rate by more than 10%, increased overall search-based revenue by 5.5%, reduced reports of irrelevant results by 30%, and raised returning customers by 2%.
