A Looker Case Study
ThredUp, a San Francisco–based online consignment shop for “practically new” clothing, needed better ways to manage its highly complex, one‑off inventory and broad supply chain. The company collected detailed operational data in MySQL but relied on time‑consuming ad hoc scripts that couldn’t scale or share insights across teams; ThredUp wanted a BI solution that would broaden access to a single trusted data source, work with existing systems, and provide reliable vendor support.
ThredUp implemented Looker to provide real‑time, collaborative analytics on a shared data model without rebuilding their data warehouse. Looker’s intuitive interface and APIs let nontechnical users run analyses, power dashboards and operational systems, and give executives visibility into distribution performance, inventory turnover, and marketing impact. The change cut developer bottlenecks, improved distribution center productivity and coordination, and established a scalable, company‑wide source of truth for continued growth.
