A Looker Case Study
DonorsChoose, a nonprofit that funds classroom projects nationwide, wanted to make its community impact transparent and easy to explore. The challenge was to turn complex, year-over-year program data into a public, filterable view that anyone—by state, county, city, district or school year—could use to understand local impact and drill down to individual projects.
Using Looker, DonorsChoose built a public impact dashboard that curates key metrics, year-to-year graphs, poverty and metro-area breakdowns, and links to project pages, all with interactive filters. The result is a simple, shareable tool that lets users see millions in funding and tens of thousands of projects at national and local levels (for example, donors funded over 3,500 Chicago projects in 2014–15), making the organization’s impact more discoverable and actionable.
