Case Study: Brown University achieves unified, cloud-based budget planning and strategic forecasting with Longview

A Longview Case Study

Preview of the Brown University Case Study

Graduating from a Legacy Platform to Collaborative Planning in the Cloud

Brown University, a private Ivy League research university with an operating budget of $900 million, 8,000 students and 5,000 faculty and staff, faced a planning challenge after moving to Workday HCM and Financials. Their legacy budget system couldn’t adapt to the new Workday data model and several schools operated with separate financial models, creating manual, time‑consuming processes, no unified view of plans, and little workflow or control for consolidated strategic planning.

In April 2014 Brown deployed Tidemark using the Workday data model, giving 120+ users real‑time aggregation, driver‑based budgeting and the ability to “slice and dice” detailed and summary views. The solution replaced multiple legacy tools, accelerated implementation by leveraging Tidemark’s Workday expertise, created a single shared planning view, and enabled more collaborative, proactive and strategic decision‑making across the University.
