Analytics Solution Provides DEKRA With Up-To-Date, Relevant Information For Analysis And Planning

DEKRA AG, a global service group founded in 1925 with about 15,000 employees and €1.2bn in 2005 sales, needed a modern enterprise information system to support flexible reporting, cost-center analyses and sales planning. Its legacy EIS — a decentralized VBA/Excel solution split into 20 models and distributed periodically — produced out-of-date, incomplete data and limited management visibility, slowing decision-making and planning.

Working with Ontrix, DEKRA deployed a web-based, centralized solution using arcplan Enterprise and Applix TM1 in early 2005. About 250 users now access 16 standardized web reports for P&L, sales, orders, margins and planning; the sales-planning process has been shortened from days to hours, managers can spot errors and act quickly, maintenance and administrative costs have fallen, and the project is expected to pay for itself in roughly two years.
