Case Study: AFS achieves streamlined, scalable global localization with Lokalise

A Lokalise Case Study

Preview of the AFS Case Study

How AFS used Lokalise to bring order to chaos

AFS, a nonprofit that runs high-school exchange programs across 60 countries, needed to localize its complex application and website content so applicants clearly understand critical questions (for example about allergies). Managing translations in Google spreadsheets became chaotic—teams had to create labels in Salesforce, copy keys across many files, and manually update dozens of language files—so AFS turned to Lokalise for a translation management solution that integrates with Salesforce.

Lokalise centralized AFS’s workflow: teams create translation keys in Lokalise, local partners log in to translate, then AFS exports Salesforce Translation (.sft) files and uploads them within minutes. The switch reduced roughly 50 spreadsheets to a single tool, now used by about 30 contributors and holding 42 languages in Lokalise, improving speed, accuracy and partner experience; key Lokalise features used include Salesforce support, focus mode, advanced search/filtering, project chat, and reporting.
