Tango, a mobile messaging service with over 390 million registered users, faced exploding log volumes as usage grew — reaching multiple terabytes per day — which made traditional ssh-and-grep troubleshooting and a self-managed ELK deployment on AWS increasingly costly and manpower-intensive. The engineering team needed a scalable, reliable ELK-based solution that could handle huge data volumes without diverting resources from core product work.
Tango moved to Logz.io’s hosted ELK service, a fast transition thanks to their existing ELK setup, using Filebeat and S3 for VPC flow logs and building Kibana dashboards to monitor response times, errors, and anomalous activity. Today both Ops and Server Engineering analyze over 2 TB of logs daily from ~100 servers, enabling rapid root-cause debugging, spam detection, and a much more cost-effective logging operation that lets the team focus on improving user experience.
