How Logz.io Helps Snyk Enhance Observability in their Code

Snyk protects over 120,000 developers by finding and fixing known vulnerabilities in open-source dependencies. As it built a Node.js, microservice-based platform running in Docker on Kubernetes, the engineering team needed centralized, real-time visibility for monitoring and troubleshooting across services and containers.

Snyk adopted Logz.io’s ELK-as-a-Service with Fluentd to ship structured JSON logs (using an in-house Bunyan-based logger), tagged requests with UUIDs for end-to-end tracing, and set up alerting to Slack and Kibana dashboards for proactive monitoring. The result: visibility across 50+ microservices and millions of daily requests, dramatically faster root-cause analysis (often minutes) and more time focused on improving the service and driving innovation.
