Dsco’s Journey Towards Enhanced Visibility

Dsco, a Lehi, Utah–based inventory visibility software provider used by major retailers and brands, faced scaling and observability challenges as its Java-based, Apache-served application generated extremely large, verbose log volumes. An initial Graylog pilot proved too costly to scale on AWS, and the team needed a centralized, cost-effective solution that could move them from manual log analysis to proactive, predictive monitoring.

Dsco adopted Logz.io with Filebeat for log forwarding, used Volume Analysis and REGEX filtering to eliminate noisy logs, and implemented Kibana saved queries, alerting to PagerDuty, and Application Insights for ML-driven anomaly detection. The result: a distilled logging pipeline handling 100+ GB/day, lower operational costs, faster troubleshooting, improved mean time to repair, and better visibility into critical events such as an RDS write-lock issue.
