A LogRhythm Case Study
The University of Nottingham, a major research university with over 38,000 people across multiple campuses, faced rapidly growing log volumes and increasing compliance demands (GPG 13 and prospective ISO 27001 requirements). Its existing log management system lacked the capacity and visibility needed to collect, analyse and retain logs for the longer retention periods required by research partners and regulatory obligations.
After evaluating vendors, the university implemented LogRhythm’s unified log management and SIEM platform to future-proof logging and security monitoring. The solution handled long-term storage and real-time analysis—monitoring an average of 26 million logs per day and storing over one billion events in six weeks—enabled early detection and mitigation of a denial-of-service attack, improved visibility across switches, firewalls and servers, and helped satisfy GPG 13 and other compliance requirements.
