Transforming Medical Education at the Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science

The Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science at the University of California at Berkeley faced a sudden and urgent need to transition its in-person continuing education program to a fully remote format at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. With limited time and resources, the program relied on makeshift solutions that presented significant challenges in scalability and student engagement.

To address this, the school partnered with Logitech, implementing a suite of solutions including the Logitech Rally Bar, Rally Streamline Kit, Tap IP, Scribe, Spotlight, and Rally Mic Pods, integrated with Zoom. This deployment by Logitech created a seamless hybrid classroom environment, enabling the program to not only continue without interruption but also expand its reach globally. The results established a sustainable, permanent online offering that provides equitable access to high-quality optometry education for professionals worldwide.
