A Logility Case Study
Sonoco Products Company, a global packaging maker founded in 1899, faced the challenge of optimizing planning and scheduling across a complex, multi-division manufacturing network. High inventory driven by standard two-week lead times, customized visual scheduling practices at individual plants, and the need to honor frozen plans and respond to unique demand changes made it difficult to manage capacity and service levels efficiently.
Sonoco implemented Logility Advanced Planning and Scheduling across 36 plants and five business units, beginning with its Tubes and Cores division. The solution replaced legacy tools and on-site boards, enabled schedulers to rerun and adjust schedules multiple times daily, and accounted for machine, personnel, tooling and inventory constraints. As a result Sonoco increased scheduler efficiency, improved customer service and product availability, compressed lead times, and gained greater visibility and flexibility across its manufacturing network.
