Ferguson Leverages an S&OP Discipline for Success

Ferguson, the largest U.S. wholesale distributor of plumbing, HVAC and related products (about $20.8B in sales, 1,400+ locations and 23,000 associates), faced a highly complex, regionally differentiated supply chain supporting 105,000+ SKUs. The company needed greater visibility, faster responsiveness and inventory right-sizing to maintain high service levels and shorter lead times across a broad product portfolio and many local markets.

By adopting Logility’s Digital Supply Chain Platform and building an S&OP discipline—covering demand, inventory, replenishment and supply planning—Ferguson shifted to demand-driven planning and gained end-to-end visibility. Results included forecast accuracy rising to ~70%, forecasting 99.5% of DC volume on a cost basis, service levels improving to 97.5%, a 70% reduction in safety stock, and faster, more precise planning for new DCs, promotions and seasonal demand.
