AFSCME - Customer Case Study

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) is one of the nation’s largest unions with about 1.6 million members. AFSCME’s infrastructure was maintained in-house by an external vendor, causing duplication of effort, slow response times, and inefficient project management; the union needed a secure, modern environment to host member data, ensure backups and disaster recovery, re-architect outdated equipment, and free staff to focus on product innovation rather than infrastructure.

Logicworks delivered a private cloud that bridged production and disaster-recovery environments, with reciprocal DR sites between Logicworks and AFSCME, segmented systems that shared core infrastructure, and managed SQL/Windows services with 24x7 support. As a result, AFSCME now uses Logicworks as the gateway for enterprise systems—enabling headquarters, field staff, and affiliates to access membership and contribution data—and runs services in a highly redundant, reliable way that better supports its constituent network.
