University of Michigan School of Nursing launches LVAD patient monitoring app in 4 hospitals with Logic Solutions

The University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMNS) sought to improve post-operative care for patients using a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) by creating a mobile application. Their challenge was to enable constant monitoring of a patient's health and the LVAD's mechanical functions to facilitate early detection of complications and prevent rehospitalization. To address this, they partnered with vendor Logic Solutions to develop the specialized app.

Logic Solutions developed an LVAD patient monitoring mobile app that provides patients with a daily checklist to log their health and LVAD status. This data is transmitted securely back to clinicians for reporting and trending. The solution, now in a research use phase at the University of Michigan hospital and three other facilities, decreases the amount of time patients must spend in the hospital under supervision and saves patients money in medical costs.
