A Loggly Case Study
Vivint Solar, a leading U.S. residential solar provider, runs about 35 AWS applications (mostly Node.js) that support sales, installation, service, and billing. The company needed scalable, developer-friendly log management across autoscaling EC2 and an expanding serverless Lambda environment to troubleshoot production issues, meet QoS obligations with third-party APIs for billing, and avoid the cost and overhead of managing an ELK stack.
Vivint Solar centralized logs in Loggly (including Lambda logs via a dedicated function), used tags and source groups for easy filtering, and configured alerts to notify responsible developers. The result was faster, proactive troubleshooting and clearer DevOps ownership, reliable log-based QoS reporting for billing, and lower operational cost and management overhead compared with running ELK.
