Loggly and Kubernetes Give Molecule Easy Access to the Logs That Matter

Molecule, a firm that calculates P&L, position, and risk for commodity and energy portfolios, runs a microservices architecture in Docker containers orchestrated by Kubernetes and needed centralized log management. Their initial ELK-on-EC2 deployment became expensive and hard to maintain as log volume spiked (around 8 GB/day), so they sought a more scalable, cost-effective solution.

Molecule switched to Loggly by adding the Fluentd plugin, gaining structured JSON logs with Kubernetes metadata and quick implementation. The team now uses Loggly Dynamic Field Explorer and Live Tail to speed troubleshooting, plus alerts, dashboards, and anomaly detection to proactively catch issues—reducing costs, accelerating root-cause analysis, and minimizing customer impact.
