Yummly is a leading recipe search and recommendation app that personalizes recipe suggestions and maps a “food genome” of ingredients, nutrition, diet, allergies, flavor and cooking details for millions of users. With over 15 million monthly unique visitors, the head of data needed to ensure recipe and ingredient data were captured consistently and accurately without repeatedly pulling developers off feature work.

Yummly implemented Logentries to monitor their recipe ingestion pipeline, using custom tagging to surface ingredient validation errors, incompatible data sources and pipeline downtime in real time. This freed developers from ad‑hoc log queries, let the data team diagnose problems and patterns independently, and helped Yummly scale ingestion with less friction.
