APTIM chooses Locus’s robust and flexible EHS software to transform a $2.4 million/year waste disposal program for a large national retailer

APTIM, a top-ten environmental management firm, was engaged to fix a large national retailer’s struggling $2.4M/year waste disposal program that spanned 850 stores, roughly 7,800 pickups, and ~1 million tons of waste. The program relied on disparate spreadsheets and disconnected stakeholders (store managers, haulers, TSDFs and EHS staff), which prevented scalable scheduling, reliable vendor accountability, trend analysis, or quick response to ad hoc issues. APTIM selected Locus Technologies and its Locus Waste Management software to underpin the remediation effort.

Locus Technologies deployed its cloud-based Locus Waste Management platform with role-based access, robust scheduling, data validation, dashboards, tasking/notifications and configurability via its Configuration Workbench. The solution centralized and standardized pickup and volume data, enabled vendor scorecards and smarter route/frequency decisions, and surfaced ad hoc exceptions for follow-up. Using Locus analytics APTIM and the retailer cut vendor costs by $120,000 in year one (about a 5% savings on the $2.4M program), improved hauler performance, won additional scope, and positioned the approach for replication with other clients.
