Ubiquitous Chip creates distinctive restaurant brands with Locofoco

Ubiquitous Chip, a group of distinctive Glasgow restaurants founded by the Clydesdale family, faced the challenge of developing unique brand identities that reflected their creative, non-corporate, and culturally significant approach to dining. The vendor, Locofoco, was engaged to provide design and branding services to capture this original spirit across their three establishments.

Locofoco collaborated closely with the client and local artists to create bespoke solutions. For the flagship Ubiquitous Chip, they worked with sculptor George Wyllie to develop a marque based on the concept of "chips," which was hand-chiseled and mounted on the building. For Stravaigin, the identity was built around the "Think Global, Eat Local" concept, and for The Liquid Ship, they created a visual pun logo. The solutions successfully embodied each venue's unique character, resulting in strong, enduring brand identities that have become part of Glasgow's cultural scene.
