Case Study: Snorrastofa engages museum visitors with Locatify’s multimedia audio guide

Snorrastofa, a cultural and medieval centre in Reykholt, Iceland, wanted to create an engaging multimedia guide for museum visitors and a GPS-based guide for the township. The challenge was to help guests better experience the stories of Snorri Sturluson and the historic site, both indoors and outdoors, with support from Locatify’s tourist guide app approach.

Locatify built Android and iOS apps using its “Automatic Tourist Guide” template and helped curate the content for the Snorri app. The solution included treasure hunt games, audio guides, points of interest, indoor UWB-based audio guidance, and outdoor GPS routes in multiple languages, making it easy for Snorrastofa to keep information updated through the CMS. As a result, visitors can explore Reykholt with a storyteller-led experience, and the museum has already used both indoor and outdoor versions of the app.
