Skýrslutæknifélag Islands launches a beacon-powered conference app in 1 venue with Locatify

The Icelandic Computer Society, organizer of the large UTMessan IT conference in Iceland, faced the challenge of creating an engaging event app that added innovative value to the conference agenda. The vendor, Locatify, was enlisted to provide a solution using their beacon-enabled app platform.

Locatify implemented a custom app that used a network of iBeacons placed throughout the venue. The solution automatically triggered exhibitor information and treasure hunt game challenges as guests moved near beacons, encouraging attendee-exhibitor interaction. A leaderboard displayed in the reception area announced daily winners. The app, featuring schedules, maps, and exhibitor info, was successfully deployed for free on Android and iOS.
