A Locatify Case Study
Eldheimar Museum, located at a UNESCO World Heritage site in Iceland, needed to provide an automatic audio guide for its exhibition on a volcanic eruption. Their challenge was to allow guests to explore interactive screens and exhibits while listening to content in their own language without having to manually control the audio. They partnered with Locatify to implement a solution using an Automatic Museum Guide template.
Locatify implemented a solution involving 100 Android devices and an infrastructure of 80 BLE beacons placed throughout the venue. Using a trilateration algorithm, the app pinpoints a visitor's location with an accuracy of +/- 1.5 meters and automatically plays the corresponding audio narration. The museum's director praised Locatify for developing a very important part of the museum, noting the company was enthusiastic and professional. The app is available in five languages for on-site visitors.
