A Locatify Case Study
Eldheimar Museum, located at the UNESCO World Heritage site in the Westmann Islands, Iceland, needed a way to guide visitors through its 1,100 m², two-story exhibition without requiring them to manually control audio. The museum wanted an automatic, multilingual audio guide that could follow guests as they moved through the displays and interactive exhibits.
Locatify implemented an Automatic Museum Guide solution using 100 Android devices with headphones and an 80-beacon BLE infrastructure. With trilateration, the app could track visitors’ positions with about +/- 1.5 m accuracy and automatically play the right audio content at the right location. The result was a location-based guide available in 5 languages, delivering a seamless self-guided experience for visitors to Eldheimar Museum.
