coUrbanize - Customer Case Study

coUrbanize is a community engagement platform that helps residents comment on real estate and planning projects online, by text, or voicemail. Facing diverse, real-time language needs and budget pressures from municipal and affordable housing customers, coUrbanize needed a scalable way to remove language barriers so more people could participate in project conversations.

Working with Localize, coUrbanize launched a Language Equity Plan (LEP) that automatically translates project content for any secondary language with at least 5% community saturation, combining machine translation with optional human proofreading. The set-and-forget approach made translations affordable and scalable; to date coUrbanize has rolled out 32 projects in 25 languages and produced over 600,000 translations, expanding access for even the smallest customers and improving inclusive community engagement.
