A Local Logic Case Study
The Urban Development Institute of Quebec (IDU), an independent nonprofit, faced the challenge of advocating against a proposed suburban site for a major $2 billion hospital in Gatineau. They were concerned that the chosen location would promote urban sprawl and incur significant long-term environmental and economic costs. To build a data-driven case for a more central location, the IDU engaged Local Logic and its Location Intelligence Solutions.
Local Logic evaluated multiple potential sites based on criteria like accessibility, population density, and economic vitality. Their analysis provided the IDU with compelling data supporting four alternative downtown sites that were better served by public transit and existing infrastructure. As a result of the IDU's report, which was built on Local Logic's data, the Quebec government first paused and then officially relocated the hospital project to a more central site, validating the power of data-supported sustainable planning.
