Serco maximizes the availability and resilience of a business-critical SAP environment

Serco, a global services company operating IT for a UK local authority, needed to ensure the reliability and availability of business‑critical SAP applications used for finance, payroll, HR and supplier management. To meet a contractual 99.8% availability SLA and support around 8,500 users across 700 sites, Serco deployed products from Loadbalancer.org, initially using the Enterprise MAX hardware solution and later moving to the Enterprise VA MAX virtual solution.

Loadbalancer.org provided resilient load balancing—first with Enterprise MAX appliances and then with Enterprise VA MAX virtual instances—so traffic is evenly distributed and bottlenecks are prevented. As a result, Serco achieved the required 99.8% SAP availability, maintained high performance for both continuous 24‑hour usage and peak user loads, met the performance expectations of 8,500 users, and eliminated load‑balancing issues for the team managing the environment.
