Case Study: Scomis achieves scalable, consistent hosted application performance for 4,500+ concurrent users with Loadbalancer.org

A Loadbalancer.org Case Study

Preview of the Scomis Case Study

Scomis improves the scalability and performance of its Hosted Application Service

Scomis, a specialist IT services provider for schools, needed to deliver consistent application performance and scale its Hosted Application Service beyond its original customer base. After finding existing load balancers poorly distributed traffic across servers, Scomis selected Loadbalancer.org and its Enterprise VA MAX virtualised load balancing solution to provide the scalability and reliability required.

Loadbalancer.org implemented two Enterprise VA MAX appliances in a clustered pair for the primary environment plus a third licence for carrier-neutral ISP failover, enabling even traffic distribution, simplified server management and high resilience. As a result, Scomis grew from around 400 to over 600 schools and saw concurrent users rise from about 2,100 to over 4,500; the appliances rarely exceed 20% CPU and have contributed to uptime in excess of 99.999%, backed by responsive Loadbalancer.org support.
