NHS trust improves the resilience and availability of critical medical systems with Loadbalancer.org

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, which serves more than 350,000 people across three hospitals and employs some 6,500 staff, needed to ensure vital clinical applications — notably a new PACS imaging system — remained available to clinicians without disruption. To meet that challenge the Trust selected Loadbalancer.org and its Enterprise MAX load‑balancing solution to deliver the resilience required for mission‑critical medical systems.

Loadbalancer.org deployed a pair of Enterprise MAX appliances in a one‑arm, active/passive configuration to intelligently route DICOM, HL7 and related traffic across sites, provide automatic failover if a server fails, and allow planned maintenance without downtime. As a result the Trust eliminated downtime for key services, extended the solution to pharmacy, pathology, communications and a patient portal, reduced IT workload through simple monitoring, and gained cost‑effective, highly responsive support from Loadbalancer.org.
