Case Study: University of Leicester achieves continuous, high-availability Cloudian backups with Loadbalancer.org

A Loadbalancer.org Case Study

Loadbalancer.org helps the University of Leicester safeguard its intellectual assets

The University of Leicester needed to safeguard over 1.5 PB of research data and replace fragile, home‑grown load balancers to keep its new Cloudian HyperStore object storage running continuously. To meet this challenge it evaluated and selected Loadbalancer.org, deploying Loadbalancer.org Enterprise 40G appliances and support services to provide a fully supported, Cloudian‑specific high‑availability solution.

Loadbalancer.org implemented two Enterprise 40G appliances as an HA pair across two data centers to balance traffic across 15 HPE Apollo servers, backing up about 120 TB of data per week and handling peak throughput of 3.3 GB/s with seamless failover. The deployment delivered improved security between private and public networks, effortless scalability (expanded from 12 to 15 nodes in five months with capacity to double), and responsive support from Loadbalancer.org, ensuring uninterrupted access to critical research assets.
