Cloudian, supplier of the HyperStore object storage platform used by a leading UK research university to safeguard more than 1.5 PB of research data, needed to replace fragile, home‑grown load balancers and ensure high availability and scalability for critical backup jobs. To meet this challenge Cloudian evaluated and selected Loadbalancer.org, using Loadbalancer.org Enterprise 40G appliances and Loadbalancer.org support services to provide a fully supported, Cloudian‑specific deployment.

Loadbalancer.org deployed two Enterprise 40G appliances in a high‑availability pair across two data centers, balancing traffic across 15 HPE Apollo servers and supporting about 120 TB of churn per week. The solution delivers seamless failover (storage jobs don’t notice node failures), handles peaks of 3.3 GB/s with no performance impact, improved Layer‑7 security as a gateway between private and public networks, and easy scalability (expanded from 12 to 15 nodes in five months with capacity to double). Cloudian also praised the responsive, “fantastic” support from Loadbalancer.org.
