A LMS365 Case Study
Odense Business College (TietgenSkolen), a Danish business college serving about 3,951 students annually, needed to modernize a fragmented e‑learning setup. The institution had used BlackBoard (viewed as separate from their SharePoint intranet) and had unsuccessful experiments building course sites in standard SharePoint (site creation could take up to four hours). Leadership wanted a single, affordable solution that combined intranet and LMS access, supported mobile services, and reduced complexity for teachers.
They chose SharePoint LMS for single sign‑on integration with the college portal, competitive pricing, and richer features than their existing BlackBoard Basic. Rollout combined a pilot group of IT‑enthusiast teachers and a bottom‑up deployment with broad teacher involvement, supported by workshops and an internal LMS certification course. Early results show a unified intranet/LMS, strong flexibility and mobile customizability, generally positive teacher uptake despite initial start‑up challenges, and capabilities that addressed gaps in the former system.
