SBS Golf Teams Up with LiveU for Live Production of Professional Men and Women’s Golf Tournaments

SBS Golf, a leading South Korean public television sports channel, faced the challenge of costly and inefficient live production for professional golf tournaments. Their traditional RF equipment and cabled cameras required extensive setup, line-of-sight, and heavy labor, which hindered their agility. They turned to LiveU for a more streamlined solution using its IP-video technology.

LiveU implemented a portable, wireless solution using its field units and LRT™ protocol, which transmitted live feeds from the golf course to production facilities. This allowed camera crews to follow players freely and broadcast from previously impossible locations. The results included significant cost reduction and higher efficiency, enabling SBS Golf to successfully produce over 50 tournaments for linear TV and digital platforms. The reliability was proven in adverse weather, leading to a doubled LiveU deployment for the following season.
