LiveU Powers Live Coverage of The Mint400

Mad Media, a California-based production company, was tasked with producing a multi-camera live stream of The Mint 400, an off-road desert race. Their challenge was to capture the action across a vast and rugged 116-mile course with significant terrain obstacles that made traditional RF technology unreliable. They also needed to create a more cost-effective production for the event. To overcome this, they turned to vendor LiveU and its technology.

The solution involved deploying LiveU's HEVC units and Xtenders to reliably transmit live video from fixed cameras, helicopters, and race trucks despite harsh conditions and scarce connectivity. This footage was sent to an onsite production facility and then streamed live to OTT and social media platforms. LiveU's technology enabled Mad Media to show parts of the race never before seen, resulting in significant cost savings and increased viewership and engagement for the event's live streams.
