A LiveU Case Study
HawkVision Productions, the digital media arm for the University of Iowa's 24 NCAA Division I teams, faced the challenge of producing high-quality, high-volume sports coverage for events in remote locations. Their previous reliance on Wi-Fi hotspots for live feeds from outdoor events like cross country resulted in unreliable connectivity and quality issues. They needed a solution to increase coverage across more athletic programs while keeping operational costs down.
The solution was implementing a LiveU REMI Production solution. This approach eliminated the need for expensive production trucks or satellite uplinks by centralizing the production crew in a studio and using LiveU portable transmission units with a small onsite crew. This significantly cut production setup time, preserved their gear by reducing the equipment sent on-site, and provided a higher return on investment. LiveU's technology allowed HawkVision to produce more games efficiently from a single home base, drastically improving their coverage capabilities.
