Case Study: Hearst achieves faster, safer convention coverage with LiveSafe

A LiveSafe Case Study

Preview of the Hearst Case Study

Hearst avoids business disruptions and gains competitive advantage at National Political Conventions

Hearst, one of the nation’s largest media and information companies, needed a way to anticipate security issues and keep reporters and broadcast teams informed while covering the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. In a highly unpredictable political environment, Hearst wanted to protect staff, avoid operational disruptions, and gather real-time threat intelligence without pulling resources into reactive incident response. LiveSafe’s mobile safety communications platform and risk mitigation tool was used to help meet this need.

LiveSafe connected about 150 Hearst reporters and broadcast personnel through a customized mobile app with geofenced alerts, real-time reporting, and two-way communication with security teams. Hearst security could monitor crowd-sourced intelligence, share updates, and coordinate with the U.S. Secret Service and FBI, helping teams navigate protest activity, restricted access points, and changing checkpoints. As a result, Hearst avoided business disruptions, reached the convention floor faster than competitors, produced stories faster, and improved both the quantity and quality of coverage.
