Vercel, a frontend cloud company, needed to create a highly engaging and interactive experience for viewers of their Vercel Ship livestream. Their challenge was to build a realtime emoji reaction feature that would drive traffic to their site, but they only had a couple of days to develop it and could not justify setting up and scaling their own WebSocket infrastructure in that short timeframe.

Liveblocks provided the realtime collaboration infrastructure to power the emoji reactions. The solution enabled Vercel to go from prototype to production in just two days. During the livestream, the feature was a major success, processing a peak of 29,253 reactions per minute for a total of 340,157 reactions, all without Vercel having to manage the underlying WebSocket infrastructure.
