Moreland City Council refreshes its website for 800,000 residents with Liquorice

Moreland City Council (now Merri-Bek) required a website refresh after eight years without an update to meet modern industry standards and improve the online experience for its diverse community. The council engaged vendor Liquorice for its digital strategy, UX/UI design, and front-end development services to address this challenge.

Liquorice implemented a new digital platform by conducting research, redesigning the information architecture, and creating a suite of accessible page templates. The result was a clean, user-friendly website that made content easier to find and met WCAG AA 2.1 accessibility standards, benefiting residents from CALD backgrounds and those with disabilities. The solution successfully handled the site's existing substantial traffic of 800,000 annual users and 3.5 million page views.
