A Liquidware Case Study
The Community College of Rhode Island needed a better way to give its 18,000 students access to desktops, files, and applications outside normal campus hours. With many part-time and older students balancing jobs and classes, the school wanted a secure way to support users rather than PCs. It worked with Liquidware and used ProfileUnity FlexApp as part of its virtual desktop infrastructure.
Liquidware helped CCRI improve profile and application management so students could keep preferences, bookmarks, and files across non-persistent desktops. The college reported that logins now take three to four seconds instead of about one minute, and that the cost to support virtual desktops is approximately 40 percent less than replacing traditional physical desktops. CCRI also said Liquidware’s ProfileUnity FlexApp gave it more control over software and helped improve license usage across departments.
