A Liquidware Case Study
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust, a UK healthcare provider with 3,300 staff and about 3,000 virtual desktop users, needed to move away from Windows XP and its mixed Windows 2003 Terminal Server and desktop environment. The Trust wanted non-persistent virtual desktops that would preserve key user settings and support applications such as Ascribe, while improving efficiency and mobility for clinical users.
The Trust implemented Liquidware’s ProfileUnity as part of its VMware Horizon View 5.3 migration to Windows 7. Mr. Parker said it was installed and running in less than one day, and login times fell from up to 10 minutes to less than 7 seconds for a reconnect and 20 seconds for a full logon. Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust also reported fewer support calls and a more consistent user environment.
