Smooth Windows Migration Provides Major Enhancement for Insurer’s VDI

Health Insurance Provider, a Pacific Northwest insurer with nearly 1,400 virtual desktop users, needed to move from Windows XP to Windows 7 and use the project to reassess its aging VDI environment. The company had already virtualized most desktops, but earlier design choices had become difficult to manage as the environment grew.

Working with Liquidware and CompuNet, the insurer used Stratusphere FIT to analyze the existing environment and ProfileUnity to automate user migration and user-environment management. The transition to Windows 7 was completed with little disruption, login times dropped to seconds instead of minutes, and administrators gained better visibility and control over the desktop environment.
