Proper Planning Produces Successful, Secure Global Virtual Desktop Deployment for Defense Agency

DH Technologies supported a U.S. Department of Defense agency that needed its first virtual desktop infrastructure to meet demanding performance requirements, strict security regulations, and skepticism from users. The agency also had to manage a complex global environment and reduce a substantial desktop support burden, so it needed the project to work the first time.

DH Technologies used Liquidware’s Stratusphere FIT to assess more than 10,000 users and understand desktop applications, processes, and resource needs, then used ProfileUnity to preserve user settings during the transition. Liquidware also provided Stratusphere UX for ongoing monitoring. The agency rolled out 1,500 virtual desktop users at two sites, with plans to expand to 10,500 worldwide, and the pilot was successful enough that even a general did not want it to end.
