ProfileUnity Helps Michigan State University Meet Healthcare IT Needs and Support VDI Expansion

Michigan State University’s Health Information Technology Department supports IT services for 2,400 faculty, staff, students, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals across three facilities. As the university moved toward virtualizing nearly all of its servers and desktops by 2014, it needed a way to support non-persistent virtual desktops while preserving user settings and a consistent desktop experience for users running about 10 applications each.

Liquidware’s ProfileUnity was implemented to restore user profiles and personalization at logon on fresh non-persistent VMs. Michigan State University said the product made it easier to expand virtual desktops, with about 20 percent of users migrated within a few months, and that ProfileUnity was easy to manage, hands-off after setup, and reliable in capturing user changes.
