Case Study: City of Tempe improves virtual desktop management with Liquidware

A Liquidware Case Study

Preview of the City of Tempe Case Study

Liquidware Labs helps City of Tempe make smooth Transition to Virtual Desktops

The City of Tempe, Arizona, needed to replace aging PCs, move users off Windows XP before support ended, and avoid overloading its IT staff with a major desktop and operating system change. With about 1,800 PC users across its departments, the city looked to Liquidware Labs and its ProfileUnity FlexApp, Stratusphere FIT, and Stratusphere UX products to support a move to virtual desktops.

Liquidware Labs helped Tempe assess its physical desktops, design the VDI, and deliver applications and user profiles more flexibly. The city reduced the need for 12 separate desktop pools, cut software licensing requirements, and made it easier for users to work from home or other remote locations with the same desktop experience; Tempe now supports 300 virtual desktop users, has plans to add 200 more, and expects the environment to grow to 800 or 900 users.
