FlexVirtual Supports Hanze UAS Through A Successful Windows XP to Windows 7 Migration Project

Hanze University of Applied Sciences, based in Groningen, Netherlands, worked with Liquidware through its partner FlexVirtual to modernize its desktop environment. The university needed to move users off Windows XP and onto Windows 7 before Windows XP end-of-support in April 2014, while also addressing roaming profile limitations and login delays that were taking more than 2 minutes per session for students who logged in and out 6 to 8 times a day.

Liquidware’s ProfileUnity was recommended by FlexVirtual and used to automate profile and settings migration as Hanze UAS moved desktops in phases across campus. The university focused first on approximately 4,500 managed desktops, kept the project under its own control, and used ProfileUnity reporting to track successful migrations. Hanze UAS said ProfileUnity moved it beyond roaming profiles, helped it complete the Windows 7 transition, and put it on a path for future Windows 8 support.
