A Liquidware Case Study
AkzoNobel’s Marine & Protective Coatings Business Unit supported 5,000 users around the world and struggled to keep a widespread Windows XP desktop environment current. Its IT staff spent much of its time on OS updates, application patches, and security updates, while desktop satisfaction averaged 2.5 out of 5.0. The company wanted to reduce support work without creating resistance from users.
AkzoNobel added Liquidware’s ProfileUnity to preserve user profiles and settings during its move from physical PCs to virtual desktops, and later implemented Liquidware’s Stratusphere UX to monitor desktop performance. The rollout kept the desktop look and feel familiar, helped users accept the change, and allowed the team to migrate batches of 50 users per night in about two hours. Desktop satisfaction later rose to between 3.5 and 3.75, and the company said it improved productivity and reduced support burden.
