Ford, the global automotive manufacturer, set out in 2019 to pivot from a dealer-only model to ecommerce, but faced major challenges around product fitment, inventory visibility, order management, home delivery, and warehouse readiness for direct-to-consumer sales. Linnworks, working alongside Autonative, was brought in to support the ecommerce operations needed to launch and scale this new model.
Linnworks helped Ford manage inventory and order fulfillment across multiple channels and markets, starting with an eBay UK proof of concept before expanding to a UK DTC webshop, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Amazon. The result was a rapid scale-up from one channel and market in 2019 to 12 multi-market platforms by 2024, with Ford’s growth index rising from 100 to 487.
